Former collegiate and professional American football player Bob Golic is currently a television actor, radio host, and sports commentator.
Early Life and Age
Dorothy and Louis Robert “Bob” Golic welcomed Robert Perry Golic, often known as Bob, into the world. Bob hails from Cleveland, Ohio. The Golic family has Slovenian ancestry. Greg and Mike, his two brothers, were both NFL football players.
Both Golic and his father went by the name Bob. From 1956 until 1962, the senior Golic participated in the Canadian Football League as a professional player. He participated in football for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Montreal Alouettes, and the Hamilton Tiger Cats. With Hamilton, he won the Grey Cup in 1957. On June 28, 2013, Louis Robert Golic died from heart failure.
When Golic was a student at Cleveland’s St. Joseph’s High School, an all-boys school at the time, he played high school football. Golic was a skilled wrestler in high school. In 1975, he defeated Harold Smith of Canton McKinley to claim the Ohio high school heavyweight title. Smith would later compete in the Olympics.
Additionally, in the tournament’s semifinal round, he defeated St. Edward High School’s Tom Cousineau, a cross-town rival and future NFL star. In the end, Golic and Cousineau finished third. Later, Cousineau would represent Ohio State as a linebacker while winning two All-American honors. Cousineau and Golic would eventually combine to play for the Browns of the NFL.

Career
Golic was chosen as a linebacker by the New England Patriots in the 1979 NFL Draft. He took part in the Patriots’ 1979–81 campaign. Unfortunately, they dismissed him following the 1982 season, and the Cleveland Browns later acquired him. He switched from linebacker to nose tackle while a member of the Cleveland Browns. He played for the Cleveland Browns for seven years before beginning his position with the Los Angeles Raiders.
Golic pursued acting following a prosperous sporting career. In 1991, he portrayed a character in The Taking of Beverly Hills. In the television series Saved by the Bell: The College Years, Golic later portrayed Mike Rogers. Also, he appeared in Da Vinci’s War movie in 1993.
In 2004, Golic hosted the afternoon drive-time radio talk show on WNIR 100.1 FM in Akron. Additionally, he works as a football analyst for Cleveland’s CBS station, WOIO Channel 19.
In addition, Golic opened Bob Golic’s Sports Bar & Grille in the downtown Cleveland neighborhood of the Warehouse District. Sadly, in June 2014, the restaurant was compelled to close. Bob is the Vice President of Football Operations as the Cleveland Crush prepares to enter the Lingerie Football League.
