Caleb Porter is an American former professional soccer player who is currently coaching the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Caleb Porter is a former professional footballer who retired early from his career as a player. He used to play as a midfielder for the Tampa Bay Mutiny in Major League Soccer before retiring. 2000-2012
Caleb Porter had to retire early, but he chose to contribute to the sport he so dearly loved by working as a coach. He kicked off his coaching career in 2000, soon after his retirement. Initially, he worked as an assistant coach for his university’s football team, the Indiana Hoosiers. Then, after coaching the younger generation of his former university for five years, the University of Akron offered him the position of head soccer coach.
Caleb had a blast working as the head coach for the Akron Zips men’s soccer team. He led the team towards two Mid-American Conference titles. Furthermore, he also won the Coach of the Year award from MAC in 2007 for his outstanding coaching season. This led to him extending the contract for two more years.
In addition to this, Caleb has also coached the U-23 men’s soccer team of the United States of America since 20 October 2011. He led his team of talented youngsters effortlessly to the qualifying stages. Unfortunately, their championship hopes ended after suffering a defeat against Canada and a draw against El Salvador. He bid farewell to the national team after coaching them for a season.

2013-Present
Caleb Porter began coaching professional teams in 2013. He joined Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers and experienced a lot of success in his debut season. His team set a record of 57 points which earned him the Coach of the Year honor through Major League Soccer.
Furthermore, the Timbers were also able to win the Western Conference Championship. Another one of his most notable works came a year later, in 2014. He led his team towards a 2-1 victory against the German giants Bayern Munich in MLS All-Star Game.
Porter coached the Timbers till 17 November 2017 had maintained an impressive win percentage of 42.08%. His team scored 329 goals under his guidance and conceived 271 goals. The team had 58 goal difference under Porter.
Following his departure from the Portland Timbers, Porter announced his transfer as the head coach for the Columbus Crew. He replaced former coach, Gregga Berhalter who vacated the position to coach the men’s soccer team of the United States. He has since been coaching the Columbus Crew and maintained a win percentage of 41.18%.
