In 1964, he released eight singles. Three of them reached the Billboard 100’s top twenty. Between 1966 and 1969, Berry released five albums on the Mercury label.
He began dealing with chess again in 1970. They recorded a live version of “My Ding-a-Ling,” which became his only number one hit. ‘Chuck Berry,’ his debut album, was released in 1975, and ‘Rock It,’ his final album, was released in 1979. Berry traveled extensively with his Gibson guitar during the 1970s. However, his performances were out-of-tune, unpredictable, unrehearsed, and uncoordinated compared to his backup musicians.
Chuck Berry performed in the White House on June 1, 1979, at the request of then-US President Jimmy Carter.
